While my travel companions are shooting away on temples in Ayuthaya, my eyes caught this tiny "plant" growing on the walls on one of the temples. Just amazing..

Philippine Penitensya (Mortification of the flesh)

Every Good Friday of the Holy Week in the Philippines, some catholics in the Philippines go into a ritual called "Penitensya" (Penitence), where they hurt themselves by crawling in the streets or by self-flagellation. What some do is they let others hurt them by hitting them with whips or sticks. Some even go as extreme as having themselves nailed into a cross. As per tradition, they say this is a way for them to show their repentance for their sins.

Mortification of the flesh literally means "putting the flesh to death". The term is primarily used in religious and spiritual contexts. The institutional and traditional terminology of this practice in catholicism is corporal mortification.

Hmmm.. try ko naman mag photoblog.. ako na lang yata ang hindi gumagawa ng blog! insecure kasi ako sa writing skills ko. but since nahihilig ako sa photography, i will try to have my pics make up for my writing skills hehe.. anyway, will try to upload some pics and random thoughts in this blogsite as often. For my first post, here is a shot i took while doing a streetshoot (or a railroad shoot) in Laguna during my vacation last March(Taken March 20). I saw this cute kiddo taking a bath sa isang poso sa tabi ng riles. You can feel through his smile kung gaano nya nae-enjoy maligo! Sarap no? =)
